best dressed.

Did you guys watch last night? What did everyone think? I loved Billy Crystal. Oh, and Cirque du Soleil! They were incredible. Still, nothing was better, in my opinion, than the beautiful gowns.

These, in my humble opinion, were the best dressed ladies of the evening. (in order)

1. Michelle Williams. (She absolutely never disappoints.)

2. Natalie Portman. (If I look that good less than a year after having a baby....)

3. Kristin Wiig. (I just love her. Just love.)

4. Penelope Cruz. (Don't always love her, but I did love the dress)

5. Emma Stone. (Such a doll.)

In Honor of the Academy Awards

Since I don't get to prance around in Oscar de la Renta all night like a movie star, I decided the next best thing was to watch the Academy Awards at home with my friends, wearing my star earrings.
Somehow this makes since.

Will you all be watching? Who are you rooting for??
I must say that since I thought Drive was the best film I saw all year (and it was totally snubbed), I don't really care much who wins best picture.
I guess I'm largely watching for the gowns. And Billy Crystal.

I will share my thoughts tomorrow.
Enjoy your Sunday!

Ty's Art Reception

If you follow me on facebook, you probably already know that my sweet husband had an art reception at the Starbucks here in Fayetteville last night.

We had such a great turnout. We are both so so thankful for all our family and friends who came out to support him. You guys are the best.
If you missed it, I promise I will let you know about his next one.
....

Today, I'm just doing a couple more touch ups to some dresses that have potential, but are currently, well... frumpy. I will post pictures in the event that I'm successful.

Thanks for reading!

PS: Are you following me on instagram? My name is kaitlyndlee. Find me!

Vintage Dress ReStyle

Soooo the restyle itself went okay, but I'm not so great at this "before and after" thing. For example, it tends to only work out when you remember to photograph what the dress looked like before you altered it. Ahhh well. I bet I don't make that mistake twice.

I took a photo of a dress with the same silhouette, so you guys could get a little bit of an idea of what the dress looked like before.

before (pretend)
Essentially, I removed the awful puffy sleeves and took up the hem about 6 inches. I love it. It is so much more spring/summer appropriate and modern.
after
What do you guys think?? Better?

* I apologize for the lack of quality of my photographs. All I had was my iphone and the worst webcam imaginable. Hopefully you get the idea.

hello spring. thank you.

I am looking at the forecast this week, and I'm loving it. A high of 70 tomorrow?! Please and thank you.

Sunshine always makes me feel sentimental and thankful. I'm not sure why, but it does. Today I'm thankful for my wonderful husband who gets out of bed to get me a glass of water when I'm feeling a little lazy. I'm thankful for friends like Shelby who send me pictures of cute dogs and babies when I'm feeling sick. I'm thankful for friends like Jennifer who don't mind receiving completely random texts from me about how much I don't understand the obsession with Lana del Rey, knowing that she will know exactly what I mean when I say she has Taylor Swift lyrics. I'm thankful that while this is a somewhat comical example, I have someone like her in my life who understands me so well that she can probably predict my every move. I'm thankful for friends like Tanja, with whom I can have 3 hr skype dates where we each laugh and cry more than once.  (Yes, all of these things happened in the last 24 hours)

I'm also thankful for my store and my wonderful, supportive family who encourages me to be a strong woman and take risks. Oh, and my puppies.

Okay, so sorry. I'm done being sentimental. I just love. That's all.

Spring Window Displays

After Valentine's Day, I was SO ready to change out our window displays. I have been working on these floral displays for about a month. The entire installation is composed of colored paper, cut and pieced together by hand. It took forever, but I am so happy with it. It just screams spring, don't you think?

bows bows bows

I have been trying to find something I can create from all the scrap fabric I have from hemming vintage dresses and skirts for the store.

I decided on hair bows. I think I love them.
I have been working on them for a month at least, but you know... just now getting enough finished to sell them.
They come in three sizes and will be available to purchase in Stitch next week <3

Well, hello there. I trust everyone in blogland is doing well, just as I left you. I need to play catch up, and there is no better way than through iphone photos, eh?

I've spent some time with my sweet siblings.

We got to see my beautiful nieces when they passed through town.

Probably nobody has been wondering where I have been, but if so, allow me to show you...
Does anyone else's work planner look like this?! I honestly wouldn't have it any other way, but it seems as if there are never enough hours.

I have missed you all and promise to return tomorrow!

Stitch Weekly Favorite

My favorite thing about the store this past week wasn't an article of clothing at all. It was this sweet girl coming to visit.

Dying. So cute.

(PS: If you like Emma's headband, we have them for sale at the store :))

The Artist

We saw The Artist this weekend. The movie was lovely; the costumes even more so. I could not take my eyes of Peppy Miller. The actress is stunning, and so was every single thing she wore. See for yourself.

I want it all. I think I would dress like this on a daily basis. Now I'm dying to find 20s things for myself and the store.
