book dates.

Friday night Ty and I had a Barnes and Noble date. We used to do that more when our home was in Fayetteville. Also, when I was in school I practically lived there. I had forgotten how much I missed it. Ty read his Kurt Vonnegut. I read my Martha Stewart. Ya know. Just another day.

In other news, I am so busy at the store right now with various projects that I barely have time to think of anything else. (Which, come to think of it, explains the Martha Stewart book.) I should have all kinds of fun/crafty/creative pictures to share from that soon.

who knew decorating for christmas could be so fun?

As it is our first married couple Christmas, we got pretty excited this year. We will be out of town on Thanksgiving visiting Ty's family, so we decided to put the tree up a little early. (Truthfully, I think we were both just so excited that we wanted it up asap.)

My mom's friend, Donna, was sweet enough to give us her pre-lit tree. I had know idea how much I loved that idea until I got to the part where I usually have to untangle all the lights.

No decorating party is complete without decorating music!

The puppies didn't know what to think, but we thought they looked pretty cute anyway.

Let there be light! (PS my husband is looking so cute.)

Who doesn't make their tree skirt out of an old curtain?

Here are just a few of my favorite ornaments**:

Isn't our tree lovely?

**1. The first ornament I ever gave Ty (last Christmas). 2. A handmade ornament from the year of my birth. 3-4. Recent additions that my mom got me from Pier 1 (seriously, they have the best ornaments.) 5. Every year since birth on Thanksgiving, I get a Precious Moments ornament. Yes, I have over 23 PMs on my tree... including the angel up top.
6. This is a hand painted egg ornament I got in Salzburg when I went to Europe with my best friend, Jennifer. (Something I love to remember.)

the little things

I was thinking about the last 8 months this morning and how they have been the absolute best in my life. It isn't because I graduated college. It isn't because I got to move into a cozy little house. It isn't even because I got to start my own business (aka my dream job). All these things are great, but really, it is because I get to be married to my best friend. Ty goes out of his way to show that he loves me every single day. I'm not talking about grand gestures; it is just the everyday things he does that make my life so sweet.

He wakes up an hour and a half before me most days, and there is, without fail, always a hot pot of coffee waiting for me when I wake up.

He is already gone when I get up most mornings, but it never fails that once he knows I am awake, he will text me and ask me how I am/how I slept. Every day he cares about the answers to those questions.

For lunch he has to stay at work and eat with the clients most days, but he ALWAYS calls me to see how things are going at the shop as soon as he finishes eating.

Most nights, because I get home quite a bit later than he does, he has dinner waiting for me when I walk in the door.

These are the things I never want to take for granted. I hope he feels as loved by me as I do by him. I also hope that in 50 years, he is still making me coffee :)
